The Strategic Planning Committee of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church invites all members to complete the Spiritual Gifts Inventory. The purpose of the inventory is to help you discover your spiritual gifts and then to prayerfully consider ways to utilize these gifts for the advancement of the Kingdom of God and the making of disciples within the church, the mission of Camphor Memorial UMC. These God-given gifts are meant to be shared, not stored away. They are meant to honor God, revitalize the Church and reach a lost generation for Christ.
Our spiritual journey requires all of us to GROW in our understanding of what it means to be like Christ, a Christian, from the time we accepted Christ until death or His return. Assessing our spiritual growth helps us to think carefully about our current spiritual development and to begin working on an intentional plan for personal growth.
Remember, it's not about our efforts. Becoming like Christ centers on His work in us and not our work for Him. God desires heart change over religious actions. God does the renewing, the empowering and the recreating. Our part as His disciple is to do the yielding, the submitting, and the obeying. We sincerely hope you will prayerfully and enthusiastically join the church in assessing your God-given spiritual gifts and use those gifts, interests and abilities in ministry in our church.
Be sure to download the Answer Sheet, add up the four number for each row and put the sum in the "Total" column. The two gifts with first and second hightest totals are your Primary Gifts and the two gifts with the third and fourth highest totals are your Secondary Gifts. Click here for the Answer Sheet!
At the Church Conference after the morning worship service on Sunday, December 18, 2011, Camphor's Strategic Planning Committee, led by Rev. David Brown, introduced to all gathered the Bishops "Call to Action", a comprehensive initiative to create vitality in local churches and reshape The United Methodist Church (UMC).
The Call has been initiated by the Bishops of the UMC based on a report of the denomination's operations and common factors found in vital congregations. When implemented, the Call to Action is expected to remedy the "creeping crisis of relevancy" facing the church today, as stated by Bishop John Schol. As part of the Call to Action, all United Methodist churches around the world, no matter their size, location or history are being invited to develop a Ministry Plan that will help them grow in vitality and experience growth in five essential areas, which include increases in worship attendance, professions of faith, participating in small groups, mission engagement and giving.
To assist members in setting plans and numerical goals for the church for 2012 to 2015, a PowerPoint presentation with background information and data for Camphor for 2006 to 2010 in the five areas, as well as the results of the August 2011 worship survey, were provided and discussd. In case you missed the Church Conference, click on the video below to see the PowerPoint presentation and here for the worship survey results. Brown, Sharon Brown, Carol Black, Phyllis Daniels, Ronald Deas, Ruth Harmon, Lisa Rhodes, Wendell Waties and the pastor of the church.
